Black Springs Coven.

With nothing to show us the way to the clearing in the forest that Tina’s coven called home, I was thankful to smell smoke in the air. We were getting closer.

“How many witches are we dealing with, Clover,” asked Mama.

“I’m not sure how many survived the last fire fight we had here. Hopefully, not all of them. We won’t be up against all thirteen.”

“Four of us,” said Aunt Wenda. “We could easily handle eight.”

Ardal rolled his eyes. He was working on his confidence.

As the trees thinned and we edged closer to the clearing I could see smoke coming out of three trailer chimneys. The mobile homes were positioned in a hexagon formation around the central fire pit.

Next to the fire pit an altar was set up and from the edge of the woods where I was standing, it looked like Tina was about to sacrifice a goat. As quickly as I could, I hollered out a curse to stop her. The frightened animal hadn’t done her any harm.
